Brooklyn Bridge

The Fountains of Bellagio show is a lovely synchronised water show right outside the resort, attracting hundreds of people every day. Cirque du Soleil also have 7 other live shows in Las Vegas that you should definitely check out. Coming next to the super famous Conservatory and Botanical Gardens. These gardens are actually among the top attractions at the hotel and pull hordes of people on their own.

Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area

A stunning set of red coloured rock formations, the Red Rock Canyon Conservation Area is among the best sights near the city. A favourite place for rock climbers and hikers, this protected area is one of Las Vegas’ best sights. The red sandstone rock formation is visible even from the Strip, and the formation of sandstone walls and peaks is named the Keystone Thrust. The actual Red Rock Canyon is actually a smaller canyon in the area, reached by taking an off-road route just off the main loop road. The place is extremely popular for adventure activists for hiking and rock climbing. The loop road is also popular for bicycle tours, and some areas in Red Rock are also open for camping. It is important to remember, however, that the region is extremely hot in the summer, and adequate arrangements should be made.

Wynn Las Vegas

A super luxury and super acclaimed resort and casino on the strip, frequented by the rich and famous. The Wynn Las Vegas has earned so many achievements it gets exhausting to even list them – AAA five diamond, Forber five star, Michelin five star, Mobil five star, and another Michelin five star for it’s restaurant, Wing Lei. Looking at that, you can well imagine that the hotel is among the best hotels not just in Las Vegas, or the US, but the entire world. The hotel was actually home to a luxury car dealership of Ferraris and Maseratis! The dealership however ended in 2015. But don’t get disheartened, there is no limit to how much fun can be had at the Wynn.

High Roller

The High Roller is the tallest ferris wheel in the world, and offers some unmatched views of the Las Vegas. The 167 metre tall ferris wheel on the Strip is the place to go if you’re looking for unparalleled views of Las Vegas. The wheel is so huge that one full rotation actually takes 30 minutes! It is a part of the LINQ resort and casino, and was actually built by the same company which built the Singapore Flyer (the previous tallest ferris wheel in the world), Arup Engineering. There are 28 glass cabins on the entire wheel, and are actually big enough to fit 40 people inside at once. There is also an iPod dock so that you can enjoy the view with some background music! At night, the ferris wheel is lit up in beautiful colours. Also, the charges for a single trip during the day are USD 23, and at night USD 37.

Stratosphere Tower

An entertainment experience that is unmatched! The tower is 2nd tallest free standing tower in the US, complete with restaurants, casinos and even rides! The Stratosphere Tower is a hugely popular entertainment centre on the Las Vegas Boulevard, just north of the strip. This 350 metre tall tower is home to a casino, a hotel, several restaurants, 2 observation decks and 4 thrill rides! Not just that, the Stratosphere has also hosted and continues to host several music and entertainment shows from famous personalities, and also shops and a photography gallery of renowned photographer John Knopf.

A huge and fantastic museum of European and American arts, with a plethora of temporary exhibitions and permanent displays. The Getty Center is the primary location of the J. Paul Getty Museum, the other one being the Getty Villa in LA itself. It has a huge collection and regular exhibitions of art into the history of Europe and America. The location of the Getty Center is fascinating itself, on the Santa Monica Mountains and high enough to have brilliant views of the city in the backdrop.

Universal Studios Hollywood

A theme park and a studio of Universal, one of the biggest film studios of the world. The studio is a huge tourist attraction of Los Angeles, and called “The Entertainment Capital of LA”. When you visit Universal Studios, you will come across exhibits, rides, games, and interactive displays from all your favourite movies, shows, stars and what not! Griffith Observatory

One of the leading centres of public astronomy, the Griffith Observatory is a fascinating science facility and one of the most famous attractions of LA and indeed southern California. The Nethercutt Collection is a museum which will definitely be of prime interest to an antique collector. It’s exhibits range include cars, furniture, music boxes and instruments, and also collectibles. The Nethercutt Collection’s most prized possession is it’s extraordinary collection of antique and vintage cars. The collection ranges from the Antique Era of the 1890s to the post war years of the 1940s to the 70s. The Lower Salon is where the trip starts, with around 25 cars displayed, along with many other antique articles such as music boxes, crystal figurines, dolls, coins and so on.

Los Angeles County Museum of Art

The LACMA is a huge art museum with the largest collection in the western United States – more than 150,000 works of art from the ancient to the modern times. The LACMA, which became an independent entity in 1965, is home to a hugely extensive collection of art. The museum has a host of permanent exhibitions, and a series of temporary art exhibitions, keeping the affair always lively. The museum has several buildings housing it’s array of permanent exhibitions.

Los Angeles Music Center

The Music Center is the biggest and grandest centre of performing arts, and one of the best in all of the US, also home to the famous Walt Disney Concert Hall. The LA Music Center is the hub of all the performing arts in the city. It is a place amazingly vibrant and diverse. It hosts hundreds of performances throughout the year by it’s 4 resident companies – Los Angeles Philharmonic, Los Angeles Opera, Los Angeles Master Chorale, and Center Theatre Group.

Disneyland

This Disneyland Park is one of the biggest Disneylands in the world, and was designed and constructed under the instructions of Walt Disney himself! Opened way back in 1955, the Disneyland Park is perhaps one of the best Disney theme parks in the world, if not the best. This park in particular was the first physical manifestation of Walt Disney’s idea of a Disneyland, an idea that hit him after he visited various parks with his daughters.

San Francisco

San Francisco is one of the most important cities on the West Coast and all of the United States. It has been a major tourist destination since the 1960s, thanks to it’s wide array of attractions, fantastic views of the San Francisco Bay and brilliant summer weather. Golden Gate Bridge

One of San Francisco’s most iconic landmark, the Golden Gate Bridge is one of the ‘seven wonders of the modern world’. The bridge, which was opened in 1937, was chosen by the American Civil Society of Engineers as one of the seven wonders of the modern world, because of the fact that it was an incredible engineering feat. The suspension bridge is held by a cable, stretching across two towers providing the structural support. It’s unique orange colour makes it pleasing to the eye and the towers can sometimes be seen rising through the clouds on foggy mornings. It is an absolute must for any visitor to walk or pedal across the Golden Gate Bridge. The walkways on either side of the road are accessible to pedestrians and bicyclists. As you go along, you’ll be able to absorb some fantastic views of the bay, with the wind blowing through your hair. It is widely believed to be San Francisco’s most photogenic spot, so get your cameras out and get clicking!

Alcatraz Island

The Alcatraz Island is another one of San Francisco’s most famous landmarks. The island served as a federal prison for the worst of criminals in the country around the 1930s to 1960s and today is a major tourist attraction.

Fisherman’s Wharf

Fisherman’s Wharf is a famous neighbourhood in San Francisco and is an extremely busy tourist destination with several attractions. San Francisco’s Fisherman Wharf is actually one of the most well-known areas in Western US. It is a vibrant neighbourhood with tons of famous places with many well known activities. 2 of the 3 cable car lines connect Fisherman’s Wharf. A plethora of seafood restaurants dotted in the entire neighbourhood, a colony of sea lions resting nearby, a couple of museums and souvenir shops make the place a tourist hotspot. Sightseeing boats into the San Francisco Bay and also ferries to Alcatraz take off from here. This amazing and lively neighbourhood of the city is one of the several must visit places.æ

Palace of Fine Arts

The Palace of Fine Arts is a historic building which was constructed during the 1915 Panama-Pacific exhibition of various arts and is one of the few buildings from the exhibition that survive today. After the exhibition, most of the buildings of the exposition were demolished. However, it was decided against demolishing the palace. It continued to hold art exhibitions in the years to come. However, the palace wasn’t contracted to stand for too long and it was demolished in 1964 due to poor structural integrity. The palace and the lagoon were restored in 2010 and today has once again become a favourite place among locals. The colonnaded structure has been rebuilt to it’s former glory and so has the serene lagoon. It is adorned with several trees around it and swans and ducks swimming around in it’s waters. It now is a popular place for families and children for picnics and playing around and also for weddings and wedding photographs.

Silicon Valley

Silicon Valley, in the southern San Francisco Bay Area of California, is home to many start-up and global technology companies. Apple, Facebook and Google are among the most prominent. It’s also the site of technology-focused institutions centered around Palo Alto’s Stanford University. The Computer History Museum and NASA’s Ames Research Center are in Mountain View. The Tech Museum of Innovation is in San Jose.

Miami is a seaport city famous for its beaches and nightlife. It is situated on the Atlantic ocean side in South Florida. Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone

There are several view points and points of interest along the length of the canyon. The canyon’s beautiful shades of colours are an iconic part of Yellowstone.

Upper Geyser Basin

Of the Yellowstone’s several geyser basins, the Upper Geyser Basin’s collection of geysers is among the best. The famous Old Faithful geyser is located here, which erupts every 30 – 120 minutes, and is considered to be one of the most predictable geothermal features on the planet. It shoots scalding water up to 30 metres in the air.

Grand Prismatic Spring

The moment you view the Grand Prismatic Spring, you will understand why it has been named so. The hot spring is a spectacular representation of rainbow colours, like white light passing through a prism, with red, orange, green, yellow and the bluest blue you’ll ever see. The spring gets its distinct colours from the Achaea in the microbial mats around the water. The minerals and the temperature of the water create ideal conditions for the Achaea to grow, their colours ranging from green to red, depeing on the ratio between chlorophyll and cartenoid. The centre of the spring is a soothing blue colour, and due to extreme temperatures is 100% clean and sterile.

Yellowstone Waterfalls

The Yellowstone river which starts from the Yellowstone lake, falls first at the Upper Yellowstone Falls and then into the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone after the Lower Yellowstone Falls. Of the two falls, the Lower waterfall is much more scenic and popular among tourists, since it falls from a much greater height (94 metres as compared to the Upper waterfall’s 33 metres), making for a much grander scenery. The Lower falls are actually the largest falls in the Rocky Mountains. You can view the falls from several vantage points, a few trails leading down to the foot of the falls, and some points can be accessed via the Grand Loop road.

Yellowstone Lake

The Yellowstone Park’s natural beauty is almost epitomised here at the Yellowstone Lake. It’s pristine waters are an amazing feature of the landscape, and the scenery is just breathtaking. The lake remains frozen throughout the winters, with ice as thick as a metre, except for some shallow areas which are dotted with geothermal activity. Angling is a popular activity on the lake, and the huge populations of cutthroat trout in the lake make it an ideal place for angling. Taking a ferry across the lake is perhaps the best way to enjoy the panoramic views and the cool breezes. Don’t think of jumping into the water for a swim though! The temperatures are extremely cold throughout the year, and towards the winters are cold enough to limit survival time to barely 20 minutes.

Artist Point

For the most perfect vacation picture, there is no better place than artist point. The waterfall in the centre crashing down, surrounded by canyons of pink and yellow and dotted with trees, the scenery couldn’t get any better! The Artist Point was named so based on a mistake, actually. This splendid view was thought to be the point where Thomas Moran created his many paintings when Frank Haynes was photographing the area. It was later revealed that it was actually the north rim where he painted, but the name was already too popular, and it’s already so beautiful, nobody really minded calling it Artist Point!

Mammoth Hot Springs

Another stunning location in the Yellowstone National Park, the Mammoth Hot Springs adorned with hundreds of springs and terraces that have formed over thousands of years. The source of water of these hot springs is actually the Norris Geyser Basin, connected via an underground fault line. Over here you will find several travertine terraces, most of them on the Terrace Mountain – the largest carbonate depositing spring in the world. Take a walk along the boardwalk which will take you across these steaming features, and popular terraces like the Minerva Terrace and the Orange Spring Mound among several others. The Fort Yellowstone located right next to the Mammoth Hot Springs is another interesting place.

Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve

The National Park Service operates cooperative programs where rangers provide interpretive services aboard the ships and on the smaller boats that offer excursion trips to more distant park features. In-park accommodations are available at the Glacier Bay Lodge. The park and preserve hosts many outdoor activities such as hiking, camping, mountaineering, kayaking, rafting, fishing, and bird-watching. Unlike many other national parks in Alaska, subsistence hunting is not allowed in the park, only in the preserve. Sport hunting and trapping are also allowed in the preserve. To hunt and trap, you must have all required licenses and permits and follow all other state regulations. The National Park Service and the State of Alaska cooperatively manage the wildlife resources of the preserve.

Kenai Fjords National Park

Kenai Fjords National Monument was initially designated by President Jimmy Carter on December 1, 1978, using the Antiquities Act, pending final legislation to resolve the allotment of public lands in Alaska. Establishment as a national park followed the passage of the Alaska National Interest Lands Conservation Act in 1980. The park protects the icefield, a narrow fringe of forested land between the mountains and the sea, and the deeply indented coastline. The park is inhabited by a variety of terrestrial and marine mammals, including brown and black bears, moose, sea otters, harbor seals, humpback and killer whales.

Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park

Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is on Hawaii Island (the Big Island). At its heart are the Kīlauea and Mauna Loa active volcanoes. The Crater Rim Drive passes steam vents and the Jaggar Museum, which features volcanology exhibits and a viewpoint overlooking Halema’uma’u Crater.
